Everyone deserves access to the basic resources that makes stability achievable. Across each United Way is a long-standing commitment to providing assistance and guidance to their community members in need of life's essentials. From basic needs such as food, housing and hygiene products to additional services such as emergency and employment assistance, the United Way provides Pitt County residents with essential resources in a private manner.

The United Way of Pitt County works alongside community partners, donors and fellow agencies such as the United Way of North Carolina to ensure that individuals and families can find and receive help when needed most. These take shape in multiple service channels that encompass assistance across many areas of life. We encourage you to read below and learn more of the ways the United Way of Pitt County provides the essentials to community members that are in need.

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

United for ALICE is a United Way group that advocates for financial hardship awareness and comprehensize research of affected populations. ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) refers to the large portion of individual or family households that are employed and above the federal poverty level, yet financially unable to live at a means for stability. ALICE households are routinely forced to make sacrifices due to financial hardship.

MyFriendBen is a benefits screening platform that brings families quick and free access to public resources. The tool provides NC residents with access to resources that many would not have known they were qualified for or didn't know existed at all. MFB also provides users with on-the-spot calculations and personalized data reports to visualize their eligibility status and next steps for many state and federal resources.

United Way's 211 service is a free, confidential assistance line that provides NC residents with a myriad of resources to fit any essential shortcoming. The referral service is open 24/7 both online and over the phone, with trained specialists to best refer users for their needs. Powered by local United Ways, NC 211 can provide assistance from the basic needs to tax preparation services to disaster relief.
