The United Way of Pitt County is committed to the responsible and transparent use of federal, state, and other grant funds supporting the Early Grades Student Success Academy (EGSSA).
Employees, contractors, families, community members, and other stakeholders are encouraged to report suspected fraud, waste, or abuse (FWA) related to EGSSA or the use of grant funds. Reportable concerns may include fraud or theft, misuse or waste of grant funds, falsification of records, conflicts of interest, bribery or gratuity violations, gross mismanagement, abuse of authority, or violations of laws, regulations, or grant requirements.
HOW TO REPORT A CONCERN
Concerns may be reported internally to the United Way of Pitt County President, Treasurer, or Board Chairperson.
Concerns related to federally funded programs may also be reported directly to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) or the U.S. Department of Education Office of Inspector General (OIG).
Individuals are not required to investigate or prove that a violation has occurred before making a good-faith report.
PROTECTION FROM RETALIATION
Individuals who make a good-faith report of suspected fraud, waste, abuse, gross mismanagement, abuse of authority, or other violations related to a federal award are protected from retaliation. United Way of Pitt County and EGSSA prohibit retaliation, discrimination, or other adverse action against an individual for making a good-faith report.
These reporting and whistleblower protections are maintained in accordance with applicable federal requirements, including 2 CFR §200.113, 2 CFR §200.217, and 41 U.S.C. §4712, and NCDPI grant requirements.
